About the role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with 3–5 years of experience in accounting and taxation. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of financial reporting, tax compliance, and client communication. You will play a key role in managing accounting operations, preparing financial statements and tax returns, and supporting the accounting team in delivering high-quality service to clients.

Key responsibilities

Prepare management reports, financial statements, and tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies, trusts, and super funds.
Prepare and file Business Activity Statements (BAS) for clients.
Handle various tax matters, including GST, CGT, FBT, and Division 7A.
Provide business advisory support such as budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and management accounting.
Review accounting work to identify discrepancies and improvement opportunities.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax laws.
Conduct financial analysis and support in preparing board report packs.
Research accounting and tax laws to form informed opinions and advice.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
Communicate effectively with clients to understand and fulfil their accounting needs.

Required skills

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and taxation (GST, CGT, FBT, Division 7A).
Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Xero or Xero Practice Tools is desirable.
Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to manage multiple client portfolios and deadlines.
Team-oriented mindset with leadership qualities.

Preferred qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, or CMA preferred.
Prior experience working with Australian clients will be an advantage.
Proactive attitude, good common sense, and ability to work independently.
